Our Bear is a cub of very few words:


"So, why did you take photos of this spot?"

"Because this is where I did the most work.

It was really overrun with weeds and it took a lot of work..."

"...but when I was done it was so cool to see how the strawberry plant exploded

and started growing into the new space it had!"

in a couple days after I weeded!"

I'm so glad he decided the job was worth the work!

Garden Tour -The Farrm (10 of 11)

While I was hosting my own garden tour, I forgot to take photos!! But since this is MY GARDENING blog, all you need do, if you haven't already seen enough gardens, is start from the beginning of the blog and you will have the grand tour of my 2010 garden from the beginning to the present.

Garden Tour - McDaniel Menagerie (11 of 11)

Sara is a very creative gardener. Let's start in her green house - which they built and she decorates with much creativity!

Bobbi, Sara, Karen, Linda.

Her tomatoes are lovin' life in the greenhouse!

These were the only cucumber plants I have seen all day!! All us other gardeners have tried, but Sara has succeeded!

With a red paver stone on the top of her boxes she had function and style covered. You can sit as you tend the box without getting a funky square welt on you back-side!

These eggplants had just come out of the green house but probably want to go back!

At least until July 5th! (That is when summer REALLY starts in the Great Northwest!)

I was very intrigued by these bean cages. Very artistic to me.

Grapes espaliered-just beautiful.

Sara's view from the garden into the orchard. These ropes have been just the trick to keep the deer out - so far so good!

Another show of Sara's creativity--succulents growing on the roof of a bird feeder!

She and a friend built two of these!

And tons of stone work in the patio!

Garden Tour - The Knowles Know (9 of 11)

Welcome to homesteading! From sheep and goats to orchards and gardening. The Knowles have jumped in with both feet and are wet from head to toe!

They are a good example of working toward a goal, and learning as you go.

The Knowles know they can figure it out along the way!

The Knowles built a Hoop House this spring and found it was a great benefit to gardening this year! Not only does it provide added warmth and extend the growing season, but this year in particular, it kept the rain off !

Red plastic under tomatoes is one of many experiments.

In the hoop house it is warm and dry, but not too dry, just not soggy like everything outdoors!

Ground cherries are a crop new to us all. I would love to see how they turn out!

Fava beans are another new crop for me.

Can't wait to try the Knowles' recipes for favas!

Part of the garden is being used by a friend of theirs and his broccoli is already looking good!

Peas in abundance!

Lettuce varieties coming along nicely.

And artichokes.

Thanks for the tour of the hoop house and for sharing information on what you have experienced so far. I couldn't ask for better neighbors!!

Anyone who knows Shannon, knows that SHE HAS A PLAN!

Look at that plan!

But of course she needs one because she is having her daughter's wedding reception in her garden this summer!!

Let's see what she is planning!

Beets a plenty.

She has expanded the original garden boxes and planted them well.

Flowers and new arbor--hey is that a picket fence turned sideways? Cute!!

Melons a plenty.

Asparagus doesn't mind sharing the space with a bicycle!

Shannon means business when it comes to gardening--just pull out the lawn and plant food.

We are not cows, we don't eat grass!

Don't you agree that salad, strawberries, tomatoes etc, sound better than grass for lunch?!
