Home School on the Farrm

Next to natural childbirth, homeschooling my children has been the most difficult yet rewarding thing I have ever done. I have earned every stretch mark and every grey hair and I wear them with a sense of pride;
 a badge of honor, so to speak!

Here on the Farrm, we use a Thomas Jefferson approach to homeschooling.  It is a perfect fit for us.  I have also read much of Charlotte Mason's philosophy and have adopted many of those ideas as well.

As the kids have grown older we utilize many online resources.

As Fall settles in, or as we settle into Fall, we take advantage of the longer days indoors and colder temperatures to study.  It is a natural and welcomed part of the yearly cycle -- yet, when we have sunny days we just have to take advantage of the sun, warmth and vitamin D-- so we venture outside as much as possible!

Nature study is still one of our favorite parts of home schooling.  We are very much aware of the blessing to live on the Farrm and we try to utilize this resource to its utmost!

I think I will continue blogging about homeschooling--I believe that life is an opportunity to learn, and home is the best place to start. (Field trips to Ireland, Jerusalem, Boston, the Grand Canyon etc etc, certainly enhance the learning experience!  We hope as a family to have lots of these opportunities, even if it takes the rest of our lives and we go with grandchildren in tow!)

If I can give my children anything, I hope it is this:
 A Love of Learning!
